  Assignment Five  Final Reflective Statement  Illustration Sketchbooks has allowed me opportunity to be experimental. It is always very easy to stay in a very comfortable position, across all things. However this module has allowed for growth and expansion. A wealth of possibilities has opened to me.  Throughout this journey I have experimented  with media and the marks they give. Not always with successful results, but always with an eagerness to try. My sketches throughout the exercises and assignments have been created using a variety of media, pencils, crayons, pastels, teabags, inks, collage. A collection of drawings and results I would never have tried before.  'Blind Contour Drawings' have been a particular high point for me, an area that I felt confident and able.  Assignment Five Application and Context  Option two: People and Place  After carefully reading through each of the three options, I have chosen this option due to my desire to practice documenting and sketching people.  Research:  'Sketch Your World Essential Techniques for Drawing on Location'  James Hobbs, 2014  Notes:  Because speed is important, it is vital to be selective in your marks. Look for the most important lines that make up the shape of the head and face. It is the character of the subject you are aiming for rather than a perfect likeness.  When drawing people it is best to work quickly without looking at the paper. Work blind.  Start by drawing the surroundings of a view, adding people when you see something interesting that will add to the image.  Try to get to know the people you are drawing and tell stories about them in order to help you capture their expressions and postures better.  Rather than focussing t...

 Exercise 5.3  Constructing a Visual Journey  I have spent some time exploring my journey so far. I have highlighted pieces of work, sections, moments in the sketchbooks that serve as a memory and an important part of my learning p ro cess.  I have also revisited tutor feedback and I've written down the comments that I want to remind myself of and carry forward with me into assignment 5.  When I was at school, I remembered that the best way that I learnt and recalled information was to create small study cards. The cards a small, pocket size which will work great in creating snapshots.
